Brief Descriptions of Some of Our Seminars/Workshops:

Being an Effective Presenter

At one time or another, we are all called upon to make presentations. What does it take to be a successful presenter? We will provide you with simple techniques that help you to be more confident as a presenter, to establish rapport with your audience, to more effectively communicate with your audience and to achieve your goals as a presenter.

Building High Performance Teams: How to Motivate People

Develop your skills as a flexible leader; distinguish the difference between a "team" and a "group"; understand the characteristics of high performing teams, the stages of development that teams go through and the leadership styles most appropriate for each stage of development; develop team work based on commitment, co-operation, communication and contribution; learn how to give effective feedback; learn how to hold powerful team meetings and learn how to establish rapport within and among team members as well as with those individuals and groups that interact with your team; learn how to identify the motivation and work traits that are essential to a high-performing team and to make the best assignment of people based on their motivation and work traits.

Communication and Rapport Skills for IT Professionals

Effective communication is not only what you say, but how you say it! Remember you cannot not communicate.  We are communicating all the time through our words, mannerisms and tone of voice. Most great communicators have in common certain skills of influence. This seminar presents some of those skills, which are useful in about 90% of the communication situations you face. While the focus is on business communication, the skills are useful anywhere people interact. The recognition and practice of these skills lead to better thinking processes, better decisions and even better choices!  This seminar is of value to anyone who must rely on their communication and rapport skills to achieve their outcomes.

Customer Care Checklist

Some of the questions that we will explore are: Do you have a well formed outcome for your business that is compelling , not only for you but especially for your customers? Do you have a set of  beliefs that support this outcome and are the actions of your staff consistent with these beliefs?  Do you understand your customer's feelings, wants and needs?  Are your customer satisfaction measures expressed in towards or away from terms, i.e. are you measuring what you want or what you don't want?  Do you build deep levels of rapport with your customer?

Discovering the Fun of Learning

Ideal for parents who wish to help their children improve their learning strategies and do better in school. High school, college and university students will also benefit.

  • The four major reasons why students struggle in school and what you can do about it.

  • Some learning strategies you can take home or to school and use RIGHT NOW.

  • Why students are having trouble with reading and what you can do about it.

The primary objective is to give some insight and overall guidance in "how" to help a student who is struggling in school.

Facilitating for Effective Teams

What is a team?  Is the sports model of 'team', which is the model we know best, really the most effective for getting things done -- at work and in the community?   Is it useful to use the language of a hierarchy when your attention is to create the experience of 'team'?  If not, what do you do instead, given that what we already know doesn't always work very well?

This two-day program will challenge your thinking about the notion of 'team': what it is; how to create one; what's required to sustain it and what's possible when you do.   With a maximum of 10 participants per program, you will have the opportunity to challenge the thinking; express your views and get your questions answered.  This may well be your chance to finally find out what is often promised but seldom delivered.

Getting the Most Out of Your Business Meetings

Are you getting full value from the meetings that you attend? Have you ever attended a meeting and wondered what was its purpose or what decisions were made or who is responsible for what or how did we get on to that topic? We have a simple approach that will make your meetings more fun, productive and less frequent.

Recoup some of the time you and your colleagues spend in meetings to do what really needs to get done. This seminar is ideal for those who chair meetings or those who attend a number of meetings. Find out how to make the best use of your time.

Goal Setting Workshop

Learn how to identify what you want. Go beyond the traditional S.M.A.R.T. goal approach to Outcome M.A.S.T.E.R.Y. to create a compelling future. Ideal for individuals or as a team building activity.

Hire the Right People and Keep Them

The key to selecting the right people for your organization is to realize that education, appearance, personality and references give you only some of the information that you require. You must also take into account the motivation and work traits of the prospective employees and compare these traits with those required to fully satisfy the duties of the position.

As a manager or co-worker, you will be able to identify the motivation and work traits of your colleagues. Hence, you will have more flexibility in communicating with them in a way that facilitates understanding and generates rapport. In addition, the material presented in this seminar can be used to improve your communication with family members and anyone with whom you come into contact.

The Human Aspects of Managing Change

Organizations are experiencing rapid and major changes in their work environments. Key to successful change activities are the people within these organizations -- their personal well-being and their support for the proposed changes. This seminar looks at the human issues related to organizational change both from an individual and project implementation perspective. Participants are introduced to the concept of change as a process: letting go of the old --> transition --> embracing the new. They also learn that for both positive and negative change, our emotions are on a roller coaster -- one minute happy or accepting, the next moment fearful or apprehensive. Several roles emerge during change activities: the sponsor, the change agent, the initiator and the role of those affected. It is important to understand each of these roles, their responsibilities, required skills and interrelationships. Participants will learn how to minimize their own and others resistance to change, while increasing resilience to change. To conclude the seminar, we review critical success factors and how to structure an implementation plan for a major change project.

The Success Workshop

This two-day workshop will cover: The three steps to enhanced personal power; The seven requirements to be a champion; Gaining mastery of your mind; Creating your own compelling future; Aligning your beliefs; The magic of rapport and Understanding yourself and others.

Win-Win Negotiation

We are always negotiating: we negotiate with members of our family, acquaintances, co-workers, supervisors, store clerks, etc. The most rewarding and satisfying negotiation is win-win, which leaves both participants with a willingness to enter into future transactions with the other party.

Learn about: the three stages of negotiation, setting objectives, tactics (identify when they are being used by the other party and the actions that you can take), power (how to gain it), personality types (how to identify), the impact of language patterns on different personality types, how to establish and maintain rapport and how to know when it is time to end the negotiations.

Words that Influence

Use your words to create greater understanding, clarity and win-win outcomes in your negotiations, presentations, marketing activities, conversations, personal relationships, ...
